Alternative to the mantuas (tadarida.deviantart.com/art/17…), that were cut from one piece and draped over the bodice and petticoat, were these kind of dresses. They had closed petticoats, cut separately from the bodice. The bodice was closed in the front and was (probably) laced in the back. It could have a slit in the front, showing a second bodice or a modesty piece underneath or it could have a (faux) wrapped-front. 

The dress is called a l'allemande here marquise.de/en/1700/allemande/… but I don't know the "proper" name for it.

I dated the picture as 1715 because it's near the end of Louis XIV's reign and the peak of stiffness and formality, before the "sloppiness" of the next decade. However, these kind of dresses were seen from 1690s to 1730s or even later. The main thing that changed over years were the hairstyles. Lady on the right has a towering hairstyle, reminescent of the baroque period. The lady on the left wears newer and more fashionable hairstyle, with hair close to the scalp and gathered into curls. The new era of fashion started in 1713, when Duchess of Shrewsbury showed up at French court without a fontange. In the beggining of 18th century women start powdering their hair, especially if they wear hairpieces.
