Slavic (c. 900) by Tadarida Slavic (c. 900) by Tadarida
Clothes worn by Slavic tribes in the middle-ages.

Slavs had ornamentation on all openings of their clothes - it wasn't only for decorations, but also for keeping evil spirits away.
There's both Nordic and Russian influence: earrings weren't popular, women would rather wear temple rings. Woman on the right wears a Viking-like apron dress.

An interesting thing I learned about Nordic clothing recently is that Viking women were almost unique in Europe because they didn't cover their hair. I'm using Viking-inspired designs for the dwarves in my fantasy work. :)

I was looking for that info about Vikings, but what I'm finding is one site saying this and other saying that... where did you find it? A site, a book? I should upload some Viking women soon, I have opted for safe gateway and they have thair hair half-covered ;)

Interesting...I'll have to look that up again. I'm pretty sure it was in an academic history book, though. It talked about how the reason for the difference was that the Vikings were pagan rather than Christian, so they didn't have that tradition.
